Default How Reliable Are Civics?

Hi Everyone,

I was thinking about buying a 1997 Honda Civic. I know honda are reliable cars, but would like to know first hand how your Civic has treated you.
I Civic I plan to buy has 100K on it, how much longer do you think it will last if I do normal maintenance on it. Does anyone have problems with their Civic, if so, at what mileage does it start happening. Also, what would you pay for a 1997 Honda Civic EX with 100K on it?.

Thanks,

I have a 97 civic EX with 151k miles on it and it still runs fine, I havn't had any problems with the engine but it realy depends on if it was taken care of by previous owners. Mine wasn't taken very good care of so I have some minor things that I had to repair and it still works great so I would say that they are very reliable.

did the previous owner conduct regular maintenance on the civ? if so it should run well into the 200,000mi. range as long as u continue to take care of it. go on kellybluebook.com and check to see what u should pay for it.

Just bought a 96 Civic EX coupe about a month ago with 105,000. Had the timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, oil filter, belts and all 4 tires changed. I bought the car for $2,300 and spent a little over $1,000 in maintainence. The car runs GREAT. I've already put on close to 4,000 miles on the car.

Before I bought my Civic, I read a lot of reviews and Civics are one of the most reliable cars around if not the most reliable. I guess as long as you take care of it, it will last you over 200,000 + miles.

Good luck!
