if it's the civic type r motor it's a b16. it's probably a b16b series. if it's an integra type r, it's a b18c. b18c is NOT worth the money. it cost too damn much. you can build a b16a2 for REAL cheap. My redline is 8300. it pulls like a freight train and it's EASY to find parts for. and the head is more times than not used as the basis for a frankenstein motor.

What about the specs for the engine in my '99 GX? I've heard it has some crazy compression ratio of over 12 to 1?

The 99 GX has a D16b5. Here are some specs. These are directly from Wikipedia, so apparently no one knows some of the info:

D16B5

(Identical to the D16Y5. Main differences are Pistons, Rods, Camshaft, Head Gasket, Intake Manifold, and Exhaust Manifold are PDN rather than P2M)
  • Found in:
    • 1998-2000 Honda Civic GX
      • Displacement : 1,590 cc (97 cu in)
      • Bore and Stroke : 75 mm × 90 mm (3.0 in × 3.5 in)
      • Rod Length : 137 mm
      • Compression : 12.5:1
      • Combustion Chamber Volume : 32.8 cc per cylinder
      • Power : ? hp (? kW, ? ps) @ ? rpm
      • Torque : ? ft·lbf (? kg/m, ? Nm) @ ? rpm
      • Valvetrain : SOHC VTEC-E
      • VTEC Switchover : ? rpm
      • Fuel Control : OBD-2 MPFI
      • ECU Code: PDN-A02

well he just made his second post so i went to see his first one and I was assuming it was around the same time as his second post.

weird, why would you post once and then not come back and then come back 2 months later and only post one more time?

I have a '91 DX with a d16 swap. I've found four 96-98 d16 auto's and a '99 f23 with a 5-speed. My questions are:

1. Would the newer d16's mount up to my '91 5-speed?

2. And would the 2.3 even FIT between my fenders?

Thanks! I need to buy a motor ASAP
