Post Just alittle bit of Horsepower....?

Got a 92 Civic LX with 188,000 miles automatic..everything is stock but my air filter(short ram).
What I'm looking for is a gain of 25-30 hps right now. I am NOT looking for nothing crazy like 200 million more horses...I just need a small kick in my Civic.

Now...before you say "Well just bolt on a Header & Exhaust and you'll be able to get 0.3-0.6 HP!!!!!!!" OR " Do a FULL BLOWN SWAP BABY!!"...I already know how much I'll get with I/H/E..and to spend all that money for just a small amount of hp is a waste. Please no SWAP suggestions...I'm a home a mechanic & still learning & just have hand tools..not a lift or crane.

I'm looking into spending smart here..My budget is $700..but I would like to save tho(who wouldn't ?).
Just wondering if I can gain 25-30 more hp with any engine mods or performance parts(Just the engine!). If so..then what parts? Please be kinda specific...I'm not familiar with crazy mechanic lingo like "Get a cam, a banger, & a crusher..those will work well!"

Links to certain parts will be even better

P.S: Nooooo Turbos! Thank you!

I have a supercharger at 7psi on my d16y8 and I am around 160whp/145wtq. You would need tuning for this. The supercharger cost me about $800, and the tuning system cost about $500. Luckily, a buddy of mine knows how to tune, so I that came in for free.

A camshaft will help, but you will need tuning, too. Read up on other people's builds, look at dyno number for certain mods etc etc., Research

Fast. Cheap. Reliable. Pick two.

$700 dollars isnt much to get the gains your looking to get the main reason people do get I/H/E first is because to increase power from stock the engine needs to breath better and in order for that you need to open the intake and exhaust up to get an increase in flow but if you go too big you can screw it up by lowering the velosity of the exhaust gases exiting and there for choke the engine out.

It is possible just to put on a 2 inch muffler with a stock Cat..or would I need to have a high flow cat?

Also if I get a High flow cat..I notice there's a place on those kind of cats where a secondary O2 sensor goes..but on my stock cat I don't see a O2 sensor. So is another sensor really needed for that kind of cat? And why is it there? and where does the other end of the sensor connect to?
