what you're thinking of is a mini-me swap. It's a head swap where you take a vtec engine's head and put it on a non-vtec block, and it's usually good for a (relatively) cheap 20 horsepower or so. If you do a search for "mini me", I'm sure there will be a ton of info.

Welcome to the forums, by the way

Heads your gonna want to look for are the D16Z6 SOHC head/manifolds and vtec solenoid. than your gonna need an ECM so that you can use the vtec

or you can get a D16Y8 head from the 96-2000 civics and get the same as mentioned above.

type in mini, you cna put either a y8 head or a z6 head on your current non vtec block, you will also need to wire up the vtec solenoid and ai would suggest replacing the timing belt and other parts as well. i was oging to do the same swap but in my opinion you would be better off going with a full motor swap

The Y8 is newer than the Z6 so it all depends. to me z6 would fit u best becasue u have an obd1 car and the z6 is obd1. y8 is obd2 so u will need the conversion/piggyback or rewire the whole car
