The next thing I am going to try to do myself is change the valve cover and spark plug hole gaskets. There was oil in one plug when I changed them.
Anything special I need to know? It looks pretty simple.
(I think I like working on my car...)

 

I actually just did this last night.

Get the valve cover gasket set. It will come with grommets, too.

The VC gasket itself is fairly straight forward. I would go and get a tube of honda-bond for the corners of the gasket.

The spark plug tube seals are a little more difficult. I ended up tapping a thin flat head screwdriver next to the seal, turning the screwdriver and then pulling the seal out with a pair of needle nose pliers.

The grommets were more of a PITA. Luckily, I had my trusty dremel. Cut off the rubber bushing, so you will only have the bolt left over. Turn the bolt upside down (head of bolt down on a flat surface) and press on the new grommet. It will take some force to do it.

Just make sure you don't over tighten the bolts when putting the VC back on!

I have a torque wrench and it says 7lbs. Is that what you did?

 

Honda-Bond is a type of liquid gasket-maker. Basically, a liquid that dries into a gasket.

 

I didnt use a torque wrench. One was available, but it was about 2 am when I was finishing up work on the car. The bolts should be a snug, thats it. I f you have a Haynes manual, it'll tell you the torque specs.

Honda-bond is a sealant/gasket in a tube. Good stuff, but a little pricey.

 

I used a generic liquid gasket from Auto Zone. Worked fine. Cheaper than honda-bond

 

So do you think a beginner should be able to do this?

 

Without question. It's SUPER easy. It was one of the first things I did.
