There's a civic hatchback for sale near me and I'm thinking about buying it. The guy said he put a JDM DOHC B18 engine with 30k miles in it. Which is the B18c right? It would be my daily driver, and work car since I deliver pizzas. Is this engine good on gas and does it pass emissions check?

 

what state do u live in and what kind of emissions check do they do. that motor is good on gas esp if you keep it under 4000 rpms cause the other cam doesn't open up til then you will get better mileage out of it that way. does he have a emission sticker on it now.

 

He just put the motor in a couple weeks ago so I doubt he had it e-checked.

Well when it comes to emmsions it also depends on wat year civic ur puttin it in as well as wat state ur in. Ex:I like in PA andi have a B18C1 in my eg hatch and they just do a visual emmsions at almost everyshop around me (so all you have to do is heat rap your test pipe and u pass ) But if u swap it into a ekor newerthen they are goin to do a full emssions. As forthe gas milage perspective if i keep it under 4000 like absolute said i can get like 33 which is preatty good if u ask me.
