Default Replaced timing belt now no spark

I have a 93 Civic 1.5L 5sp with 200,000 miles. The water pump seized and that snapped the timing belt. I replaced both and now it wont start. No spark. I don’t know where to start. I checked around my work to make sure I didn’t unplug anything I shouldn’t have, but I didn’t see anything out of the norm.

Just seems odd that a spark related item would fail at the same time as the timing belt. How do I diagnose the spark problem.

Please point me in the right direction. Thanks

I'd be more worried about your valves than your spark; hondas use interference engine designs, meaning there's no extra room for the valves when the piston is at TDC. That means that when your timing belt breaks, the camshaft and crankshaft are still rotating (the cam because of inertia and the crank because the vehicle is still moving and in gear), but because they're not connected anymore, they're rotating at two different speeds, allowing the valves to come crashing into the pistons.

I'd say chances are it's a problem with your valves and not the spark.

Welcome to the forum btw

I agree with Reaper. How did you check for spark?
