oh, im sorry, perhaps this may explain why hurst shifters have been around for DECADES...
I think they are referring to REALLY heavy ones. Oh well, I mean ive heard people go both ways. Some people say they never have any problems and others claim they do. Therefore it wasn't worth the personal risk for me. But it's definately your own decision. But i've heard many people say that it is bad to leave your hand on the shifter and a really heavy **** would have the same effect.

Why in the world would it be bad to leave your hand on a shift ****?

^ Reading comprehension ftw. The article explains why.

As for a weighted shift ****, I've never found the need for one. My shifter goes right into gear with little effort.

Are you trying to be a smartass about a question that doesn't have a clear answer to its reader? I can comprehend what has been said, yet still did not find how it would be bad to leave your hand on the shifter. Unless of course it was the chance of it breaking? Other than that do not call me out on a reasonable question. I see where it says the damage it can do, I simply just don't see how resting your hand on a shift **** is going to screw anything up.

Easy ladies. Ben, its because people might be pushing on the **** a little while resting their hand on it. Then it would have the same effect as a weighted **** would have since it would be putting pressure on the shifter also.

That wasn't my question. I didn't see how someonecould put enough pressure on them from laying there hand on there to bend anything.

Ive heard from MANY people that the weight from your hand (if you dont hold it up and just rest it) could do as the quotation says. Like i said, nothing definitive, just Ive heard some peoples first hand accounts of problems and it wasn't worth the risk to me, but it's up to each person to make their own decision. I wouldn't say weighted ***** are bad, its just i have no problem shifting so see no need to take the risk.
