Default So i just pumped gas....

And my MPG went up by 3. The last time i pumped, i got 28 MPG now i get 31 MPG. I changed my Spark Plugs, Air Filter, and Oil Change so i guess each one net me an extra 1 MPG. Pretty cool huh. I figured i was gonna get only a 1 MPG increase and was stunned when i got 3 instead.

While you're tuning things up, have you checked the spark timing with a light? That can really affect your gas mileage. That is if your 2001 still has a distributor with adjustable timing.

unless I'm trying to pass someone I'm Always shifting at 3k rpms and in 5th I'm at 3k also on the highway.. There really is no need to go more then that. Yes a window open is bad for mpg since it ruins the aerodynamics of the car. If people actually did the speed limit and stopped with the jack rabbit starts aka going from a full stop to flooring it to get to your desired speed you'd save alot in fuel.
