Default starting a civic engine from cold

Hello

I drive a 1.6 ls single cam civic and every morning I drive to work via a motorway which is located around two minutes from where I live. Should I start the engine and let it run in for 15 minutes and than drive the car straight onto the motorway with a constant speed of 80mph not very fast but it does the job for about 20miles or should I just drive the engine from cold onto the motorway?

My friend also drives a Honda assures me that I can damage the tappets in the engine from this type of driving as the oil has not been round the engine. Am I damaging the engine from everyday motorway driving or should I drive an alternative route to work that consist of slower roads?

just warm up for car for a few minutes. It doesnt have to be running for 15 minutes, but just enough to get everything warmed up a little.

It only takes a few minutes to get your oil flowing through the entire engine.

Yeah I would definetly warm it up a lil bit, maybe like 5 minutes. The reason for the warm up is to allow your engine oil to reach normal operating viscosity. When it cools down it changes in thickness and such. I only drive about 7 miles to work, but I even warm up my car in the morning.
