Default Swapping Engines

So as of right now I have the d16a6 non vtec in there. I have a d16z6 vtec motor, obd1 harness and p28 ecu. I was curious if I should swap that till I save up enough to get the B series motor. Is there anything I can do to the D16Z6 ? Any suggestions appreciated

the d16z6 is a good motor it comes from the 92-95 civic ex/si.
how soon are you planing this b swap? if in the far future then go ahead and do it, then later you can go for a b16 and you will be already set up for vtec,
the motor will fit right in and all you need is the jumper harness from rywire.com

have you thought about instead of spending the 2-3k on the b swap and turboing the d? You will make a lot more power!

Yes I have thought about the d and b but I dont know what to do. The B series would be some time away if I do it. I was curious is the d16z6 a hydraulic tranny as well? Also if i have the main harness from the car I got the engine out of cant I use the master harness and just swap it in my car ? TIA

well the d16z6 trans yes its hydro,
no you cant all your cars plugs are different, it would be a pita trying to make it work,
just use the d16 head and block and dizzy, and buy a obd0 to 0bd1 conversion harness
then run your 2 wires from the vtec motor to the ecu.
just cut the vtec plugs off the d16z6 harness and use them, dont try and use the whole harness it wont work

Ok thanks. Well just means that I have to switch from cable tranny to hydraulic and use the master and slave cylinders from it. So would the shift linkage be different as well. Meaning should I grab it to ?

Is it possible to use the D series cable transmission I got for the d16z6 as long as the splines match up to the motor ? Some people have been telling me I can do that instead. Any thoughts from yall be appreciated
