Is it time to say goodbye to my 98 Civic HX Coupe -D16Y5- (273,000 miles)
My bi-annual Smog check (CA) is coming up next month, OCT 2020, and as luck would have it my CEL came on a month ago. ODB Scanner points to the O2 sensors, or Catalytic Converter (p0420).
If I took care of all that I needed to to pass smog I ALSO need new tie rods, rack and pinion, control arm, alignment and new brakes that was quoted to me for $950. I paid $1600 for the car 14 months ago. Is it time for me to move on and stop pouring money into a car with 273,000 Miles??
Also, a oil leak I cant find.
Oil leak One of two ball joints. Downstream o2 sensor and cat converter with what looks like a weld not normally needed on this model.

get a quote from another shop price seems kinda high and that many steering suspension problems with the vehicle your either terrible at maintaining your car or the shop is trying to soak you for money. also o2 sensor codes dont necessarily mean a new cat and sensor it could easily be something stupid and cheap to fix. im always su****ious when a shop tells me everything dealing with the steering and suspension in the front is shot but the car runs fine. i can see 1 part here or there being questionable and not noticing but when basically they are telling you the whole front end is bad something is up.

thank you for talking the time to respond! I appreciate it!. The reason I took it in (Les Schwab) was because half of my two front tires were bald. And the tires were only a year old. The two back tires were completely fine.
They quoted the price to fix it and warned me that my new tires would go bald within a year. So I told them I'll just buy 2 new tires ($120) every year for the next 8 years. Even then I will save money!
