I have a 98 Civic LX 5spd and the syncros are totally wasted. Im looking online for a used one and have a few questions, one will a tranny from a Vtek work ? What other years makes and models share the same trans ? Also what generation is mine ?

 

Your car is a 6th gen (96-00). Being an LX, your car has a D16Y8 Motor, so you want to get a transmission for this motor. Vtec doesn't matter. Tranny is the same. Maybe a slight gear ratio difference, but nothing drastically different. A D16Z6 trans might work as well.
