Default Tuning

So I was trying to search on the forums about tuning, and i was wondering if I was doing the average H/E upgrade since I already upgraded my Intake, and a possible Intake manifold would I really need a tune? It seems It's not really talked about on the forum unless you have a turbo or I'm just blind as a bat.

You could see a minor HP increase with a tune, but i dont think its worth the money unless you find one for cheap. If you find a good deal on one pick it up, you can always resell it.

go check out the header, intake, exhaust section of the forum. and check out the stickies. no point in tuning this kind of setup.

Yah I have multiple times, but my cousin who builds his monster machines bitched me out telling me I'd need a tune if i was going to be putting those parts in or they're useless. Then again I'm not making a 400whp sc300 or 300whp subaru legacy wagon.

He is, in a way right, you could tune it and full a few ponies out of it. But unless you plan to build the internals, boost, or spray, a tune is not going to be worth it

Lol.. Well, if you had a 7th gen. You could get kpro and tune the I/H/E, I know I guy who did it and got 20 extra hp out of his little setup. Then again, kpro works wonders for tuning, so I wasn't really surprized.

What about to make sure everything is running properly? Making sure it doesn't run too rich or too lean? Not for a power increase, but to insure that the engine is running properly? On 93+ V8 F-bodies, a mail order tune on an otherwise stock car generally got you 15 horsepower to the wheels and better fuel economy. I'm picking up a high mileage car Del Sol, so I was wondering about tuning as well.

That's what I was thinking more personally so i was burning extra fuel, and blowing smoke because I was to rich.

A tune will only help... but the question is... Is the cost of a tune worth the 1-5hp you may get from it? If you have big power then you'd need a tune for reliability and power gains.
