so you got it unlocked?
Yes, I said that up above but I guess you missed it. I bolded it so everyone could see it better. I am so excited!

Haha, yeah... I had to break into*** an '06 Monte Carlo at our dealership because apparently when you disconnect the battery on one of those, the doors automatically lock. Well, of course with my luck, the lock rod had apparently gotten dislodged (guess who got to fix that along with the other bajillion things wrong with the car), so the key didn't work in the lock (of course GM only threw one lock cylinder on the outside of the car. Passenger lock? Nah. Trunk lock? There's a key fob, why would anyone need a lock cylinder on the trunk? Friggin' GM.), and since the battery was out of the car (with the hood closed), the key fob obviously didn't work. Of course, I had a lockout kit, so that made things a little more simple. Then I got to replace the battery, window switch, one of the locking tabs on the lock rod, the power steering pump, and a few other things. Getting to break into the car made if kind of worth all the hassle

OP: The way you got into the car is friggin' awesome... Congrats

***I work at a dealership; the car was (and still is. Saw it on the lot this morning) owned by said dealership. Breaking into a car your boss owns on the boss' orders is perfectly legal. Just wanted to clear that up.

I know this was resolved but the easily solution to this problem is to call the police non-emergency number- they'll come and get it open

I'm not sure how well that one would work; I doubt they'll open any car for any person without proof of ownership. And most people don't keep their car titles in their houses, and usually registration papers are kept somewhere inside the car.
