What to do with $5000?

Splat has said the smartest thing so far. You can put all the money you want into an engine, but if you don't have the correct suspension, your just going to spin. You need control when you have power.
As for motor build, everyone has their own opinion. Some say D series, other B, one might say K. I say V8, but Ima beast. =P
It all depends on what YOU want. To get the most out of the 5K, I'm thinkin drop Dbuild and turbo. Your going to have a hard time modifying a B series well with 5k

I already got king springs, will they do?
My engine is NON-Vtec is it even worth boosting?
Or
Should i wait and save another $5000, sell my civic and buy an Evo VI? or is that illegal to talk about on this forum

Told you, one person would say K series.
Your non Vtec D series is boost worthy. What kind of hp are you wanting to build to? As the D series is boost worthy, it has a cap on output.
HAHA... you said evo. Thats funny. Subaru. Suuubbbarrrruuu. FIXED.
In the end, it is all up to you. I for one rather have a custom built car than to have a stock car. I personally make fun of all the evo/sti guys around here.

^ Subaru ftw! But you've apparently never driven an '04 STi if you're making fun of the STi/STI guys. Fun cars, even bone stock
Fixed
Engine-wise, I say build and boost the D-series. For $5k you could be making some serious power from a single cam. Realistically, $5k isn't enough to swap to another engine series and boost it, but an internally stock d-series can put down more than any bolt-on B-series when a snail is involved, so that should be an indication of what a boosted D can do with some internal work.

The reason I bag on them isn't because of the car. Its because they all claim to be car guys, and DON'T modify their cars. They went out and got the most expensive shiny car they could get, and now think they are badass.
Real cars are built, not bought.

ok lets get back onto my civic lol.
I found out my engine is a D16y8. Good or Bad?
My mate has the same engine and is willing to give it to me.
Should i take it and boost it, or just buy a better engine.
As a stock car and engine i cant just chuck in a turbo and drive off.
What other parts/mods will i need to boost my engine? and what names and brands are the ones to go for?
