Default Addiction2bass truck project thread

figure why not reapers got his stang thread. ; )

traded my black 1999 automatic civic coupe for this truck in december. so far i feel ive done quite a bit and still alot more to come.
i got the truck pretty much stock, only thing done to it was window tint on the front side windows to match the stock deep tint on the side rear windows and back window. and also has some aftermarket speakers in the door and i think in the rear pillar but not sure. nothing fancy but better than stock for now.

its a 1997 chevy C1500 extended cab, 3rd door option, 5.7 Vortec motor and nice chrome wheels stock (my favorite two options) its a 2wheel drive automatic.

(yes still needs matching paint. its on back burner until after i paint my civic)
also soft tonno cover for the bed to keep everything dry and from flying out.

so far my upgrades are audio since its my fav thing to modify. Alpine flip out dvd radio, sirius replay tuner, ipod connection, (rear back up camera coming soon) and Dual Optima yellow top D34/78 batteries under the hood, (high power alt also to come soon). and for bass i have lifted the rear bench seat 4inches and built a custom box fiberglassed floor bottom double baffle front to flush mount the subs, and carpeted over both of the subs for a stealth setup. subs sound good but im already planning bigger and louder! currently amplifier is only a weak jbl 600watt amplifier that kinda sucks but works, my good RF amplifier is out for repair due to a factory metal screen falling off the cover and shorting out the internal components. (NOT MY FAULT)

performance mods so far is just chopping off stock muffler and using Two 2 1/4 dynomax Bullet mufflers with true duals out the rear bumper. (but already i have to have new pipes in due to suspension change those pipes wont clear the axle.
second performance upgrade is a factory GM 10bolt rear end G80 gov lock setup with stock 3.42gears to keep its decent milage for a truck. i already have the rear end which i got from my local pullapart. i just need new brake parts for it and gear oil for it and then i will install it. it should help me out ALOT in the winter since its just a 2wheel drive truck, i hate that one wheel spin on ice and not moving still! the gov locker should be very nice upgrade not to mention the nice 2wheel burn out when i smoke em!

currently waiting on the leaf spring plates circled in red before i can continue the rear suspension
ya im really pissed about those 2 parts missing! the box looked retaped when i got it but tape looks old so i doubt it was stolen or lost in shipping.
i called stylintrucks afew hours ago to let them know so they are calling the manufacture DJM and having them ship me the missing parts from the kit.
downfall is i didnt know the part was missing until half way thru the install
so im stuck leaving the truck on jack stands till i get the plates which sucks.... i was going to have a little fun with a serious rake look with 0/6 drop kit to work tomorrow.LOL
BUT that wont be happening. and only reason for that is im waiting on cash to replace the front rotors since they are warped, been that way since i bought the truck. so before i replace the front spindles and springs im going to wait on lowering the front until i can replace them with new ones the first time and also replace the wheel bearings just to be safe.

and i must say the suspension on my truck is A WHOLE LOT MORE OF A PITA than my civic!!!!! leaf springs are a huge PITA to remove and install! took me 2 1/2hours to simply remove them and put them back in to put the axle ontop of the springs! hopefully i never have to remove them again!
the front shouldnt be to hard but the springs could be a little trickier to remove them.

thats the missing part holding me up!

also this summer i plan on pulling the bed of my truck and painting the whole frame with POR15. i painted the new rear end with it and it should hold up great if its as good as they say it is!
plan on doing alot of cleaning up and even some repainting on the truck.

BUT my civic is first on the TO DO LIST for paint!!!!!!!! its getting warmer out which is great so after i lower the truck and get the exhaust pipes and alignment redone then i will start the body work on the civic and get it ready for paint! so the truck will be put on hold for maybe a month maybe shorter depending how long it takes me to fix all the slight hail damage on the original sheet metal.

main thing with my drop that sucks is i just got those pipes last month... freaken 165bucks that needs to be redone now to clear the raised axle
im hoping they will cut me a deal and modify those pipes.... i sure dont want to pay another 165bucks to have all new pipes bent up!

Haha two fifteens sounds like a good idea

I approve! what were you thinkning for subs? I'd very strongly suggest you look at SSA ICONs or XCONs
