Choice of muffler and resonator is the main reason. My exhaust manifold extends halfway down the cat farther than a stock unit, so something custom needs to be done anyways. The kits are usually made with 2.25 piping, too.

I currently have an Apexi WS2 kit with the B-pipe cut and lengthened to fit correctly.

Never posted an update from last weekend. I will try to get some pictures up soon.

-Moved gauges around, pulled out the EGT gauge and the triple gauge pillar. Anyone want a triple gauge pillar pod molded for a 96-00 Civic and/or an EGT gauge?

-Found my rear driver speaker is blown. Pulled them out. My buddy has replacements for me if I buy him dinner. No homo

-Pulled windows and re-greased tracks. Re-installed window trims.

-Re-wired sub woofer. Still cuts in and out every once in awhile. The sub itself is dying, or the wires going from the inside of the box to the sub are shot. I will pull it apart this weekend.

-Started working on cleaning up the window trims. Tried using paint thinner, took too long and too much effort. I ended up masking off around a window and painting it with black plasti-dip. Looks good to me. Driver side done last weekend. The rear or passenger side will be done this weekend.

Plans for this weekend:

- Pull front coilovers off and use some chassis lube on them. My car has had an awful squeak when I turn the wheels. Used to only be when I was sitting at a stop, but I can now hear it when I am driving around, too. It is either the coilovers are squeaking somewhere, the ball joints are done for, or the steering rack is failing. Praying it is not the rack....

- Wash car

- Might pull the fog bezels off and paint them black.. Any thoughts?
______________

Sold the Euro R manifold, so I have a few bucks to throw around for things. Ordered my new DDM kit. Once those are received, the damaged set will be sent in for warranty to have a back up set in the future.

I will try to get some pics up later today.

1. Replaced speakers. Sounds great.

2. Still haven't played with it. Not sure if I even want a sub anymore to be 100% honest. Still thinking about it.

3. Nothing extra done yet.

4. Problem was my driver side ball joint. Needs to be replaced. Boot clip came off and all grease leaked out. Sprayed it down with wd-40, zip-tied the boot up and no more squeaks for the moment.

5. Done. See pics below

So.... The black bezels look a little "off" and out of place. Should I paint the grille in the bumper black to match them?

Yes paint the bumper grill.

And fill the ball joint with grease and re ziptie it or whatever, all it takes is some water to get in there and start the rusting process and then the ball joint seperates, grease or replace. Too much of a risk otherwise... I've seen too many ball joint failures towed to my dealership I'm at. My friend just had some "srt4 guru" work on his and he did his lower ball joints, brings the car to me because its clunking, the guy who did them tightened the bolt that pinches the knuckle to the ball joint about 2 threads, basically there wasn't anything holding the ball joint to the knuckle besides friction... lucky. I'd hate to see your ball joint go and put you or your son at risk!

Thanks for the feedback Scott. Bumper grill will be painted as soon as I can get my hands on some extra paint. This stuff sells out quickly in the stores, especially in black.

Thanks for the heads up on the ball joint. I will grab some grease from a friend and throw the zip ties back in. No time or money to have the replaced right now :/.

so what did you end up spending on the plasti-dip paint/gun combo? I know you went back and forth on actually getting the gun, but you got it, right? Are you glad you plasti-dipped? I'm trying to decide if thats the route I wanna go. I kinda want to get a gun and the multi-color kit, but I'd like to hear feedback from someone I trust.

Just go black if your are gonna do this. Covers much better. The white is semi-see-thru, so it takes ALOT more paint to cover up the stock silver color on my car. I imagine much more paint would be needed if your car was red or black etc.

I paid ~$340 for the kit (less expensive if you piece it together, too) and received a $100 refund on the gun they had out of stock. So $240 all together. You can get about 3 gallons of paint from them for about $180ish and buy a gun.

If you go with an air gun, make sure the compressor is big enough. Electric guns will take more practice since they are more "finnicky".

The problem with the white is that rubber stains. Side skirts need to be repainted, and the back end looks a little yellowed in the corner with my exhaust is. The roof is also getting this black spots on it if you look really close. However, so far so good for the most part though. I think I would have been better off with a quick OEM color respray. BUT for $240, I really cant beat it since the car is all one color now.

I might have my SI cluster up for sale soon if you are still looking for a cluster with a tach. Looking at your signature, you need one?

I am indeed in the market for one, but I'm not sure if thats where I should be allocating my funds at the moment. Just found out my radiator fan isn't coming on... relay works...*sigh*
