Get one for yourself and take a corner before and after you install it. One of the best investments you can get IMO.

You should just move up to a B series. It makes more sense in the money vs power outcome. Spend all that to build a D when you could just swap in a B and put a small turbo kit on it. Two cams always beats one.

Haha, what's up Jeff? How come you haven't called me about those mounts yet?

Meh, we'll see what happens. I want to build something up, instead of throwing a B series in with a bolt on turbo kit/SC. B series are more expensive, so it would equate to less things I can actually do to the motor when compared to a D series. Plus, I already have everything except the block itself and bearings. It would be too much to deal with trying to sell everything in order to go B series. I'll get up to two cams eventually. I can assure you this. But it will not be for a long time.

This is not the everyday run of the mill let's make the most power possible project. Rather, it is a lets make a fun, reliable DD project thread. I would like to play with turbos, but it can wait for now. Plus, the g/f is looking to do a turbo'd GSR in the future, so I'll have fun with that, too.

I love d series. D > B in my book, B series is annoying. Everyone has them, it is nothing special... and yes turbo D is nothing special either, but not if you go the extra step with it. Which is what I plan to do in a year or so, break the 300 hp marker. People worship B series which I think is stupid, but as long as people worship it and dump their D I will be happy, cheaper parts for me! I'd go K before B anyway, K24 swap can be for a decent price, be worth the power and to be able to say you are k powered rather than a B like all the other Honda kids out there.

Haha, sounds good man.

Just an update. I have been talking with a few people from CL and HT about z6's for sale. Looks like I should be able to pick up a complete bottom end for around ~$200.

What do you guys recommend as for a clutch? I am thinking I will still be within the limits of the Stage 2 Competition Clutch, but I am not sure if I want to change it up. I am currently running the CC stg 2 clutch and PP, with an 8lb. chromoly flywheel. I think I would prefer to stay away from the pucked clutches if possible, too.

some personal thoughts that might help.

a. d>b. ive races quite a few b's, even with 2 more people in my car, i always won. most b's have been abuse to hell and back and run like crap.
b. im in the same boat (motor or bodywork) and i think the motor route is the way to go. im lookin into getting a new front end cus mine is kinda beat, but the rest of my tax returns is going into a cam, new timing belt and water pump, and accessory belts.
c. i know its been asked, but why such a thick sway bar? im running a itr 22mm with the beaks kit and im getting such bad lift off over steer im probably going to switch to the eibach 17mm bar in the next few weeks. if you dont believe me, just look at my last track video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znu1L46jw6I). i know it depends a lot on set up, but for reference, im running gc coilovers with eibach springs (375f and 450 rear), koni shocks, and eibach 26mm front sway.

edit: just notice i was post 666, how does that number fallow me so damn much.

My opinion is to either stick with the same setup or go with a 6 puck stage 4 and a medium weight flywheel. Maybe that would help with some of the chatter?

His setup is rather soft and very front bias 10k/6k. Beings that the valving in the coilovers isn't that aggressive the only real choice is a big rear bar. I bet the car is quite on the semi neutral a tad front bias side now.

Sounds good buddy. I will look into clutches a little later tonight. I'll give ya a call once the little one goes down, too.

Yay! Picked up a motor last night. Complete z6 bottom end (including an alternator and some other things) for $150. I came unprepared and ended up just having to place the motor in my trunk. Well, luckily it only destroyed the cheapest thing in my trunk, my subwoofer. The motor leaned back and popped a hole in the cone. Oh well. At least the meth kit didnt get damaged.

Today I will be picking up an engine stand from Harbor Freights and taking some pictures after a quick cleaning.
