Danomatic's Update Thread: Modifying the EJ1

I love this car!
First of all! I just read this whole thread, and I think my brain is going to kill me tonight in my sleep. All 74 pages. Second of all, I have seen a lot of chauncey crapped out civics here in Wisco, and let me tell you. This Civic is a perfection of form and function. Its good to know that people still know how to do things the right way around here.
I'm almost positive I saw you in Grafton on my way home from work last summer. I was in a grey 01 mustang with a blacked out hood near highway 60. Thought about catching up to you as you headed west. Decided that your car was way to fast for my gutted out v6 and watched you pull away. It sounded nice, unlike the many fart bombed kids cars around here. It was a sunny day and I remember thinking. Damn that thing is hot, even with the roof rack. I even told my buddies about it. Broadway mirrors and all.
My E30 buddy scoffed at the thought of it, and my Prelude buddy likes Honda anyway so he was all like "its a Civic." I was all like "this car was rad man." I recently picked up a 95 coupe from a good friend of mine for $300. It can use a little perking but all and all its a solid car. I look forward to getting my new ball joints in so I can drive it after it sat all winter.
So now, I have been looking for Honda buddies on the forums. My Prelude buddy is moving away so soon, all I will have for car buddies is the E30 guy. Lets face it, I don't want a bimmer so he cant relate to me on that level.
So unless your car has a clone, I'm sure it was you. Black trunk with white spoiler and all. Literally, I got to like page 5 or so of the thread and bells started going off in my head like crazy. Honestly if I had the cash I would pay upwards of 7k for this car easy. However, having a kid and all, I don't. Just invested about 2k in tools and parts for my civic. Thus staining my hands with Honda dirt all week. Its a good feeling.
If you sold it, I hope it went to a good mature home that can respect it for what it is. If you still have it, for the sake of the love of the Honda gods, keep this car! I love it! This thread has been one of the best build threads I've ever looked at. So much life and love has gone into this car and it shows. That goes for both Honda, and Mustang threads I've looked at. My E30 buddy is having a open meet up at his place in Colgate on the 14th. The more cars the better.
I dream of running Road America in my stang but she is nowhere near track ready. Mustang parts are $$$. For me my, civic is more for street commuting in style. I plan on keeping it D16 also. I guess after I wrote you this short novel, I really just wanted to say, damn nice car man.

Thanks man, I really appreciate the kind words! Sad to say I sold her just 5 months ago to a guy in Illinois. I just hope he enjoys it as much as I did. You probably did see it in the Grafton area because we moved there April 2011. If I had the space I would have kept it. Let me know if you ever need help with the Civic. I know that car inside and out.

I bought a more family friendly car. 2000 Audi A6 Quattro. I bought it from my brother. It had quite a few little issues.
-The cluster display was had dead pixels. I desoldered the old display and soldered on a new one.
-The passenger's side window wouldn't go up without help. Found a broken slider clip, replaced that sucker.
-I replaced the old faded headlights with some updated headlights.
-Replaced the front brakes along with fixing a broken wire that made the brake warning light go on in the first place.
-Added wheel 15mm spacers to give a little wider stance.
Before:
After:
-And today, I replaced the driver's side front speaker and interior door handle, passenger's side heated side mirror.
-Next on my list are the flexpipe, O2 sensor, and air pump. Thanks to my favorite junk yard I now have a used air pump for me to try out!
