Scott's Ek Build: Shaved and Tucked
Haven't been on here in a while, some new updates. Had some health problems in my family but its been attended to and should be fine. I've done some things in the meantime though. No pictures right now as I'm updating this on my phone. But here's the new plans.
Engine:
Still doing the same goal just a different setup. Still want 300 to the wheels, but no longer doing a vitara build. I'd rather not trust a cast piston and skinny custom rods at 300. So I got a deal from a guy on ht and just bought a set of brand new Supertech forged pistons. Able to withstand 700+, fully coated, really nice pistons. Paid 300 shipped for them, 75.5mm and I'll be at 9.1:1 compressi, perfect. Going to ordering eagle rods and all my oem bearings and gaskets and stuff. Basically I'll have pistons and rods that'll last 750 hp lol.
Wheels:
Just bought a new set of wheels today. Bought a set of 15x8 +25 offset axis og san, graphite with a nice 3" polished lip. I need to take off these 195/45, tires are trashed and stretched and I need to put my 205/50 on. They fit really good, rears are flush and fronts have some poke. They are flush. But not mexiflush which I hate.
Engine bay:
Started welding up holes I didn't do as well as scraped the seam sealer off and welded the seams on the passenger side and smooth them out. Changing the bay color this year as well. Going to paint it gunmetal to match my wheels. Repaint my engine alikinum again after its back from the machine shop, valve cover same color as the bay. Then going to but the new flush mount valve cover bolts from password in green and do all the password green fender bolts.
I won't be able to do much for a few days, can't my hand pretty deep on a windshield at the junk yard today. Probably should've gone in to get a couple stitches but whatever.

Nice!
I put the back of hand on my exhaust manifold a little more than a week ago. **** is still a burn bigger than the size of a quarter. I should have taken a pic of the melted skin :/
Anyways, nice to hear you are changing your plans again.. nothing out of the ordinary for you scott
Looking forward to pics!

I bear pictures.
First off here's my hand. This was taken last night after it healed some, the spots with the dark blood is where its super deep and the not as deep parts aren't as noticeable but its like an inch long, like an 1/8" deep. But even working today its healed decently and is pulling together and barely bleeding.

Here's the axis og sans from the side, not the best pic. Front is lower just has no weight.

Here's the rear, I need to add some more negative camber. I straightened out the camber for when the Gt3's were on, but those were 15x7 and +40. The og's are much more aggressive with 15x8 +25.

Front have some poke to them. Odds are I will need more negative up front since I will be having 205's up there and be very low.

Here's how much it stick out up front.

Flush in the rear.

In the back of the crv.

3" lip, fitting bills like a boss.

And smoothing out where the seam sealer was after I welded it.

Got my Supertech pistons in the mail the other day, they are super nice. Everythings there, should be taking my block to a machine shop this week. Need to shop around. Also just got done ordering stuff from Password:JDM. Bought 10 fender washer/bolts, new open ended lug nuts, and their new flush valve cover nuts, which look badass and just came out. They are all green, I already have their green radiator stay. Should look pretty cool.
your project is coming along nicely. so why'd you sell the b16 and decide to build the D? you should have the oil passages widened (theres another word for it, but its lost on me at the moment) on the crank. I've always read that they get starved for oil on the y7's and y8's and that is why a z6 bottom end is better. I've strongly been considering picking up a z6 block off craigslist and building it on the side, but they're not nearly as prevalent as y7's and y8's. I'm looking forward to seeing how your project goes.
oh! and BTW- those new rims look effing great! what perfect fitment! I've been considering some small spacers to make my rims a little more flush...

Thanks guys, definitely going to keep updating as things happen.
Waiting on a few emails back from a few company's. I'm most likely going to be investing in a delta 272-2 cam. It is the same specs as a bisi 2.4, just a regrind and only costs like $150ish and will make a lot more power. Also waiting on a few machine shops to quote me some prices on work. Need the block bored, honed, head and/or head decked, tranny bolt drilled out, micro polish my crank, and I'll ask about widening the oil hole on the crank. Have a few machine shop that do race motors so I know they'll have good input.
I took out some more seam sealer today and welded it up. The stuff I'm putting down after it is Evercoat Metalglaze. Some of the best body filler out there.
Also put my 205/50 on the sans, the tires are kinda too wide, going to make it really hard to fit the tire in the fender, yes I will be just as slammed if not more. But I have a set of 195/50 readily available to buy off my friend, he used em for one summe, and I think these should just have a little stretch and fit better. If anything I'll get another set of rims to run wider tires on for when I go out to race, I plan on getting slicks and trapping some good 1/4 times this year.
And I decided to stay single cam over b16 since I love that the single cam is such an underdog. And this is my first real engine build so I want to do something cheap. B16s don't make **** for power and are only good boosted, so I'd rather blow up a cheap y8 instead of a $1000 b16. I love single cams, so easy to work on, reliable, and can still make insane power. 300 will be just a start for me. B series is so overplayed, yes they have been proven time and time again their ability to make ridiculous power, but I like to do things different and things that are noticed. Maybe some day I can have the fastest single cam in Wisconsin, or even the Midwest. All I know is I plan on going some kids a run for their money. Everyone around here in Milwaukee who knows me knows I always buy and sell, but they know I still have the b16 and they a think I have the supercharger. So it'll be a nice surprise.
