Scott's Ek Build: Shaved and Tucked
lmfao, NO WAY!! and you plan on keeping it D-series? This may quickly become one of my favorite builds. I'm considering getting a ek sedan if I can't find a clean GSR sedan or wagovan when I finally have the cash laying around.
Was it pretty fun driving an evo for a few months? Oh, and what happened with the GSR build? Why'd you scrap it and buy the civic back? Just curious...

The Evo was a blast to drive, only problem I had was the clutch which I replaced and the battery was on its way out when I sold it. I had so much fun with that car, made enough hp/torque to slide it around corners with all 4 spinning. Just needed injectors, if it was beow like 45* I'd hit fuel cut by 5k in like 3rd gear and on. But I had a substantially bigger turbo than stock and boost peaked at 25 psi... so I was making pretty solid numbers. The only other MAJOR problem it had (thankfully new owner never heard it) was the the input shaft bearings were getting REALLY loud, trans needed a rebuild bad. Bearings were in terrible shape, and 5th gear would grind in to it, and 3rd was starting to get kinda ****ty too. But that's common problems of Evo's trannys grind gears and the bearings fail prematurely, there are updated bearings from Mitsubishi now. Oh well, made some money and beat the **** out of it and had fun.
As for the gsr I had, it was a 96 4 door gsr. Bought it off a coworkers parents, original owners, just had some title issues. So they sold it to me as a parts car for $100, made most of that back selling the cat. So I made a few $100 off parts and had it scrapped by the end of the week, couldnt sit on the shell very long, neighbors dont like that. Car had 230k on it, every panel had dents and rust, the owners wife hit everything is the way he put it. so now I have a 100% complete gsr swap sitting in my basement.
I did officially get the Civic today and its back in my driveway, should be getting my cage tomorrow.
Well here's some pics. Picked up the cage, super nice welds and it fits really really good, tight around the roof and the other bars line up perfect, extremely happy with it. Here's a few pics, it isn't bolted to the ground yet. I have to knock out some sound deadening stuff and drill the holes. The door bars aren't too in the way though, which is nice.
FYI the guy that owned the car RUINED the bumpers, he thought it'd be cool to have his friend graffiti them. He was wrong. I dont have pics of the front of the car but it is completely covered in obnoxious graffiti colors and stuff...

And Pat I don't think you had your 4 door when I had the parts car... and I kept the parts car for about one week lol. Pulled the swap out in like 2-3 hours, sold off a few things off the interior, wheels, cut every plug off and every relay and fuse. Kept the booster and master for my car, and had a scrap yard take it out of my driveway for me. My dad didn't want the car sitting in our driveway very long.

Haha, no problem Scott. I was just messing with ya anyways. The teg needs minor interior parts at this point and I can live without them until I pay off my CC debt a little more.
Good to see your thread becoming active again! My thread(s) were getting kinda lonely.
Lovin' the cage though. I wanted one badly, but could never do it since I have a little one with me at all times.

I love the look of a cage, thankfully the main hoop on this is tight to the roof and slightly behind me so I don't really have to worry about hitting my head. I am going to run a 4 point harness with it so I have less of a chance of sliding up and hitting the bar if I were to get in an accident. Going to look like a race car diver in 4 points all the time lol. Butthis cage will suffice until track requires me to get a weld in... someday hopefully soonish I'll be in the 10's. But I'm startin to worry about funds due to school, 4 years of 25k a year with me only working a couple days a week isn't going to be pretty. Nut back to the cage, the guy actually sold it since he needed a weld in for how fast his em1.
I wish I had the 4 door when you had yours to help you out, I ended up scrapping it with most of the interior. All I sold were the seats, tan interior and 4 door = useless.

Not a damn thing lol. Car is sitting in storage until spring. Been flipping parts like usual, sold some stuff from my gsr swap. I had bought a set of Rota circuit 10s, owned them for 4 days and sold them for $110 more than I paid lol.
I did just buy an SLS top mount turbo manifold though, bought it off someone on dso.
Come spring when I really get rolling on this thing I'll probably have a build thread on d-series.org over here, I am 100x more active on there.

The sls I have is from a while back... There's another one up right now if that's the one you are talking about. I paid about $400 for mine.
As for my thread, I now do all my updating on d-series.org (sorry
), so feel free to check it out over there. Have most of the stuff for my turbo setup here or being made. Going to go for 300 on pump gas, 400+ on race gas.
