Got the head swap done today. Took forever. Also swapped my tapped oil pan on.

Everything went smoothly until the end... when I discovered that the JDM D15B head/cam on a D16Z6 block requires some mechanical timing tweaking due to the D15B head's cam being designed for a shorter block deck height. Right now it's running but you can tell the timing is about 1/2 a tooth off. Gotta get confirmation from someone I know that I need a Y8 cam gear to fix the problem and then i'll order it and once I get it i'll be back in business.

Some pics...

OK so I got the confirmation from another person with the same setup... Y8 cam gear solves the mechanical timing problem. Ordering one right now... only $9.63 from Honda... paid like $23 for 2-day shipping though, but it's worth it given the scenario.

USDM d16z6 to JDM d15b.

Good looking d15b head, good color to it.

The LCAs look good. I know it's suppose to be there, but what's the bend in the LCA for? My stock ones don't have that. It shouldn't be a problem... just curious what it's for.

And yea Z6 to D15B was the head swap.

This D15B looks like it was barely driven. My old head has 172k miles on it and you can really tell the difference just by looking at it.
