If you take off the resonator and just put say a 3" magnaflow muffler. is it going to be rediculously loud?

Should I be buying a new resonator too?

throw that idea out the window. The exhaust already has a muffler so no need to add a new one. For more sound just put a straight pipe in where the resonator is, the Muffler that comes with the kit will keep in fairly quiet, but it will be loud. If its too loud then go with a smaller resonator. The magna flow cat back with a race header is pretty loud in and of itself.

but there is no need for a muffler when there already is one. 2 mufflers?? mine aswell keep the resonator that come with the kit.

I rock an 04 cbr, and also an 85 honda spree.

I'm doing more than that.

I am putting a header in place of my CAT. Then I'm running new custom 3" piping back to the muffler. I'm just putting a Borla muffler on 5" round, 3" inlet and outlets. I'm wondering if it will be too loud with just 3" piping and a large muffler.

I'm putting the bigger piping on because I am turbo charging the car in the spring. The header is just a place holder for the turbo for now.

Now I ask the question again. Will my exhaust be too loud? Should I have a resonator put in line too? Or will just the muffler be enough to stop me from getting a noise ticket?

thanks

LOL, didn't realize that was you koonce. I believe you know all this already. lol

OK, i get ya know. Being its a borla it will be loud, but it will also sound very nice. Your best off, not putting the other resonator/muffler on until you here and break in the new exhaust. Its hard to say, so many ppl have different opinions on whats loud and ricey and whats not. I say wait, and if its too loud, add a quality resonator, the quieter you want it the larger the resonator should be.

I think that under normal driving conditions you wont get pulled over, but when you give it some gas it will be loud. Go hit up you tube and check out the greddy TiC's for our car. It will be louder than that.

There is so much hit or miss and personal preference when answering this questions. If this was my car and i was doing the same thing you were, I would put a small resonator on, or ditch the borla and go with a Twin loop. Im not a huge fan of crazy loud exhaust. I want to here it, but i dont need ppl 1/2 mile away hearing me.

To bad you dont live closer, then you could here my exhaust and we could go from there, whether you want it louder or quieter. My exhaust system is almost perfect for me. Im gonna get a slightly smaller resonator and my sound should be right where i want it.

Also, when the turbo goes on, its gonna sound much different, the tone and pitch will change.

cliffs: I would put a small resonator on(if it was my car).

Got any places where I can find a good resonator? I'm having trouble even finding resonators. Just mufflers. And a lot of places call mufflers resonators, which are similar in function, but not really the same.

How big of pipe are you running?

Also, what do you think of how my car is looking? Only things are the new headlights and tail-lights. I'm returning the grills I bought because there is basically no way of installing them well. I'll wait to change grills till I find one that bolts on how the same way as the stock one. I put some new pics in my album.

hmm, i dont really have any specifics on resonators, you can always pick one up from a local store. Just make sure the inlets and outlets will fit. Try procivic.com

Im running a stock gutted header to a 2.5 inch dp and a 2 1/4 inch midpipe and a 2.5in axle back.

Car looks good so far, just remember keep it clean and dont rice it out, avoid ebay parts. This isnt the fast and the furious.

I wish i could post pics of my car, but they changed the damn site and well internet kicks my *** and i cant figure it out.

good luck with everything, feel free to shoot me pms if you got any more questions.

We'll def have to meet up at a meet or somthen.
