Default AEM filter differences?

So recently I've been hinting to my parents about my want for an AEM filter for my intake, as I have a crappy Spectre brand one from Pep Boys right now. They surprised me and got me one off of Ebay, should be here in a couple days but it's not a Dryflow. It's been labeled as a Cotton/Gauze oiled air filter.

I really wanted a dryflow but never mentioned that to them as I really didn't know they had a cotton/gauze kind. Is there a major difference between the Dryflow and this cotton/gauze oiled one? I just wanted a Dryflow because I've heard the disaster stories about cheap filters burning up and really wanted something recommended by most of you guys out there.

i'm sure no filter you buy from aem will combust in your engine bay (under normal conditions LOL). anyways, the difference between dry flow and the other kind is that you don't have to oil the dry flow (but you still have to clean it). both are excellent filters, but performance is roughly the same. btw, get rid of your current filter asap. and also, make sure you did get the right size aem filter; they make lots of sizes

They got the right size amazingly...2.5 inches. I'm glad to hear that the performance should be the same. Apparently it was only $14 plus shipping...that kind of made me weary about it. I guess I'll just have to try it and see for myself. I can see myself probably just buying a Dryflow when it comes time to clean and re-oil that filter..haha.

Sweet, I've been meaning to replace my factory intake (probably get an AEM V2) but all the money I've spent so far has been on my interior and my train horn, lol.
