Cold Air Intake = bad?
Heres the thing. If some weirdo randomly installed a CAI or WAI on your car in the middle of the night you wouldnt even notice anything was different when you drove to work/school the next day. If you want it to be noticeably faster then either save money to put towards building a turbo for your engine or swap in a better engine. Ive only had my civic about three or four months and I dont see myself wasting money trying to beef up the stock engine. I would suggest upgrading your exhaust & suspension first since you can still utilize those things when you get a better engine... or if you want to keep the same engine you can start buying the parts your going to need for a turbo setup. (better fuel pump, injectors, header, guages, etc)
But if I was 16 id probably just be worried about trying to get laid more so id start off making it more attractive for the ladies to want to ride in. New paint, stereo and some nice 15 inch rims. Just for the love of god dont get a big spoiler, or a body kit, or oversized rims. Those things are just ridiculous.

Where do you live?
now a EX stock intake FAIL compared to a aftermarket intake.
a intake wont hurt anything. sounds alot cooler when ya gas it
and it looks a hell of alot better
but performance gains. ya it might help alittle bit with a nice filter on it but on a 100hp motor.... come on your not going to feel a increase, only on the butt dyno will it feel faster and thats just because of the sound when ya gas it so youll be gasen it alot harder alot more... and it will hurt your milage of course with you hitting the gas harder to hear that sound it makes
been there done that... i prefer a cold air intake looks but for a daily driver i say SRI intake because of possible hydrolock if your lowered and run thru a DEEP puddle!
but anyone says that a cold air or short ram intake will hurt performance than i call straight BS!!!!! how is helping the motor breath going to hurt anything? only thing that will hurt it is if you use a cheap @ss ebay intake with those ragity @ss filters that are no good and let all that dirty air thru when the filter when it falls apart!

If you look at the link in my sig, you'l find a step-by-step procedure for installing an AEM V2 (true) CAI setup. The difference in intake air temperature between a stock (or SR) and a true CAI is huge. We're talking about the difference between 140 and 90 degrees F. The colder the air, the more dense and thus, the more air molecules that are ingested into each cylinder's combustion chamber. A larger engine can easily see 10-15 wheel HP gains with just a CAI and while a 4 cylinder engine won't gain as much net HP, it'll still see the same percentage gains, so instead of gaining 12 WHP, you might see a 5-6 HP, or a 6+% gain (at 4000-6000 rpm). That's a pretty good boost for the money spent.
