Default Exhaust question

I found a local magnaflow catback for my 1998 civic ex at a killer deal, but the guy claims it is a 2.5" exhaust. I know everyone says that you should get 2.25" if your NA, but would I lose any performance by going 2.5"?

^^ True story, custom piping with magnaflow muffler is popular, and you will be ok with a 2.5, its not ideal but dont go above 2.5 on N/a

2.5 should be the absolute maximum diameter for N/A engines.
