EXHAUST SIZE?? help appreciated

Does anyone know what size the stock pipes are for a 2002 si exhaust? And if i changed just the pipes and left the size would i get a different sound? If you know please help thanks

probably like 1.5". the type of metal would change the noise but it would be pointless.
