Header-Ceramic?

RE: Header-Ceramic?
Didn't read the responses, so if someone covered it sorry.
Ceramic coating keeps heat inside the exhaust manifold. Supposedly by keeping the heat in, exhaust gases aren't allowed to expand as quickly, resulting in less backpressure within the manifold. The concept makes sense, but on a N/A car I think the gains would be minimal. However, with the right coating, I've heard, you can touch the exhaust pipe within minutes after shutting the car down and not get burned. That might be handy, but I'm not even sure if it's true ha. I could see the coating beingmore usefulon turbo applications, assmall turbo manifolds have the potential to create a lot of backpressure, and the increased velocity of the exhaust gases through the manifoldcould help spool the turbo faster.

are you in California? Megan and DC are about the same quality, and unless your in Cali and care about passing emissions, i say get the Megan.

Thanks, Flip. I like that vinyl on your ride. Looks sweet. Is it a pain to wax around that? Who did you order it from?

yes dc comes in stainless and ceramic, but ceramic is like 100 cheaper and there is NO noticable difference in performance.

RE: Header-Ceramic?
I live in Buffalo, NY, where it's HOt n HUMID in summer, and FREEZING cold at night. Wouldn't it be wise for me to pick the stainless stell ones over ceramic, simply because i don't want to drive in the winter, heting the header up, then letting the -20 degrees wind chill crack it for me... plus, i don't think they make a header for a 08 civic LX, (NON-Si)

RE: Header-Ceramic?
Hi guys I have been reading your comments on ceramic coatings on headers. I must say there is no contest withceramic against stainless steel. You must go on the following web site to see wwwpowerkote.co.za.to see thehuge advantages of ceramic. Just to name a few if you coat in and outside you emmediatley get about a 70 degree temp drop on your pipes which helps with underhood tempratures There is no rust or discolourisation with heat The temp threshold on ceramic arounr 2000 derees Finally the inside coating is very smooth and assists with gas flow. check the above web site out hope you find what you are looking for! frank
