thanks. so you're saying that if the CEL appears that the v-tech wont work until you get the oxygen simulator?

1. VTEC not v-tech. and to answer the question... not exactly, what I'm saying is that the VTEC won't engage with a CEL on, you could just reset the code, but it will come back. A high flow cat will solve the problem, but I don't know if you have an extra ~200 to spend on one, the O2 sim is a quick fix. Or in my case, I think my cat quit on me so once spring rolls around I'll see if I"m right and fix it, but for now the O2 simulator does the job.

Just to clear things up, you're talking about the SECOND o2 sensor, right? So that nobody goes around putting a sim instead of the first sensor...

On the OBDII code reader it says P0420 Bank 1 (this is to clarify for those OBDII vehicles with 2 catalyst systems <-- recently learned knowledge), we only have 1, so yes the "after-cat" sensor or second O2 sensor.
