Default Intake

I was looking into buying a Cold air intake for my car but I dont want to spend 200 dollars on one. I was on ebay and found alot of cheap ones and I was wandering if it was worth buying one off ebay or just save my money and get a AEM. My buddy said if I bought the one off ebay then all i have to do is throw a new filter onto it and it would give me more horsepower and a better sounding than my AEM short ram. Can I get some help here?

Heres the link to the intake

Your buddy is 1/2 right. Get the ebay intake, throw away the filter and get an AEM dryflow. You will gain 1-3 hp with an intake, nothing that you should be able to "feel".

True.

You should put a new filter on it because the generic filters that come with the generic eBay intakes are garbage.

Barely... not enough to make it worth it. Maybe like 1 HP, if even.

Your AEM short ram intake is fine. You already have it, so it's not worth getting rid of to gain ~ <1 HP
