intake box
what is up all. here is a pic of my engine...

I was wondering what is the black box on the left side of my engine compartment? I see the air filter right above the intake manifold, then there is a black pipe that connects to another black box. what is that box, and can/should I remove it? I will be getting a cold air intake ASAP but in the meantime would this open up my airflow at all?
