I was wondering what is the black box on the left side of my engine compartment? I see the air filter right above the intake manifold, then there is a black pipe that connects to another black box. what is that box, and can/should I remove it? I will be getting a cold air intake ASAP but in the meantime would this open up my airflow at all?

 

im pretty sure its just a resonator, and if you remove it i think it will just draw in warmer air, which hurts performance.
