Default intake/exhaust

so, you're intake and exhaust are how your car breathes, right? well, wut kind of intake should i put on my car? I was only thinking of putting on a CAI, but should I do a K&N or AEM? Anything else for intake? Also, for the exhaust, wut should I do for it? And, wut is a cat back exhaust or w/e? Is that wut I should do? Can i do that with a straight pipe? Will they exhaust help my HP a lot? Is there anything else to help how my car "breathes"? If you can answer any of these questions, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not post-whoring your questions I promise...

You are right, intake and exhaust is how your car breathes. You wont get much argument that AEM is the best CAI on the market. They actually use K&N filters but they have lots of research and tech in the pipe. If you go with SRI then you would be good with either AEM, K&N, Injen, Weapon-R or even a cheapo e-bay one with a K&N filter if you want to save a few bucks, but dont' tell anybody I told you to get a cheapo e-bay intake.

A cat-back is all of the exhaust components from the catalytic converter back, including the muffler. I saw the single biggest increase in performance when I put my cat-back on (7-8Hp).

A header is the other really popular bolt-on to help your car breathe.

Just to clear this up a bit, I believe a cat-back does not include the cat. It's everything behind the cat. (just looked a bit confusing when I read it)
