need help on my catalityc converter

Default need help on my catalityc converter

hello i have a 2002 honda civic si and the check engine light came on!!! i had a diagnosis done at the dealer and they said that the catalityc converter had to be replaced, but the saddest part is that they quoted me for the part $1000.00 !!!! . well my question is do i really have to get that specific catalityc converter or can i get it you know at those place that they just replace them and cost you like $100.00, pleae help me out you guys cause thats a lot of money.

Holy lord $1,000 sounds like a lot! You could probally get one a lot cheaper then that

$1000, lol stealership FTL, i imainge you have a simple bolt-on cat, whcih you can find online for much less than $1000 and do it yourself.

$90+shipping at most for magnaflow hi flow cats... if you ain't got the tools, a custom exhaust shop will do it for as little as $30

but can you tell me if by installing a normal catalityc that cost me less wont do anything wrong to the car???

what web site can i find those kind??? and could i go to a normal place to replace it the dealer mentioned i had a OBD II catalityc and by puting a diferent one i could ruin the engine, i dont know. please some advices on what to do please will be helpful. thank you.

well, a normal catalytic converter is essentially the same thing as a hi-flow one except the later is for "performance." anyways, you can pick whichever one you want, normal or hi-flow, and you won't damage your car. OBDI is for old cars; OBDII is for newer cars. You won't ruin the engine if you put the wrong one in; you just create more pollution with a OBDI. The guy that you talked to at the dealership definitely didn't know his stuff... A catalytic converter comes after the engine, so how could it ruin the engine???

Procivic.com has the catalytic converter that you'd want for the best price. good luck

get a high flow cat like everyone else said. oem cats for any car are a lot of money.
