Default Rust Inside Headers!?!?!

Ok well i guess I know now why the guy sold me the DC Sports Headers for $35 bucks, there is rust forming inside the pipes on both pieces of the headers! I did not notice it till today when I was going to start getting everything together to get them installed soon. SHOOT!! It looks like he left them laying around his shop and water got in them and just sat there for a while. Does any one have any advice on how to remove the rust from the inside of these header pipes? They are ceramic coated on the outside. Also is there any way to treat them after with some like High Temp paint so they wont rust again on the inside? As soon as I get a chance I will take some pictures of it.

Header/s get rusty it's a fact of manifolds and header's, with how hot they get and the elements. You can restore it back to it's original shine, but overtime it will get rusty again.

Sand it down with fine grit sandpaper 1500, use a high powered hose (if you have one) or just wash it really well, dry, use some Mother's billet polish or equivelant. Make sure to wipe off any fingerprints you leave on it or they will show up once the header gets hot.

Its not the rust on the outside that im concerned with, its the rust on the INSIDE of the pipes that is hard to get too. Im taking it to a Meineke guy tomorrow see what they can do and how much.

just brush it out as best as you can, it won't matter how it looks on the inside anyway.

It just happens, dc-sports ceramic headers are made out of mild steel (which rusts)plus condensation will collect inside the exhaust sometimes so there is no way to stop it from rusting unless you get a stainless steel header. You can get some high temp paint for the outside or some exhaust wrap if you are concerned about how it looks.

no im not concerned about how it looks outside or inside. Im concerned about the performance part of it since there is rust inside the pipes will it affect the flow though it and also if chunks of rust break off will it clog the catalytic converter.

I doubt it'll do any real harm. Exhaust manifolds rust (inside and out); it's just what they do. I say don't worry about it.
