hey am gutting the doors of a 90 civic si hb!
seltbelt worked out. windows worked out. but safely wise the door has subport bars etc. i am thinking about a side crash. i haveno rollbars yet should i just wait until then, the car is alreadly gutted but have gas tank, doors, a/c and dash to go! thanks for your time.
this is a streetcar

If you do decide to cut the impact beams out, they save you something along the lines of 30-50lbs each. Personally, I refuse to remove any part of the car's safety system.

*edit: why are you gutting a street car in the first place? You're not going to notice much of a difference. Hell, if you pull 100lbs (keeping in mind that the passenger seat and entire backseat put together only weigh 62.5 lbs), your 1/4 mile time only decreases by 1/10th of a second. It's not really worth it IMO

dito.... NEVER REMOVE ANY KINDA OF SAFETY DEVICES!!!!!!

dont play with your life!!!!!! if you get Tboned with a large truck its still gonna be A VERY BAD WRECK BUT every little bit of safety increases your chance to survive!
