Halo Lights - Why is it so hard to adjust!
I've spent the last 3 nights trying to adjust my halos...Instead of the light diffusing like normal oem lights do, there's like a crisp line of light then absolute darkness...no happy median! When I raise up the lights a bit to see further ahead, it's too high!, then when I lower it, I can't see anything in front of me! And what's up with this "W" look and how can I get that out!
Any help with this would be great!

that is how projextor lights are. They have a cutoff point, and they light output shows those three bright spots. I tried to align mine and i know someone else that tried on their car too, but we could not get it to line up too good. One light always aimed too high up.
I thought the same thing when I was adjusting mine. But there is a happy median. The correct setting is a very thin line between diffused and direct. "Three bright spots" cyberx32 is referring can be eliminated with a slight overlap between opposite sides. What I did to set mine was pull in a big empty parking lot late one evening. That way I could get my left/right settings and the distance I desired as well... you get the true adjustment you're looking for. If there is no happy median then you could have some low quality halos. You may try some aftermarket replacement bulbs too... Good luck.
Thanks Jake...I'll guess I have to keep on trying... did you adjust your side to side to point towards the center or out? I'd like to get your settings to see if I can possibly do it too.
I don't think there is like a setting that I could calibrate on my lights and then suggest it for everyone else as a standard. Each product is going to come with a different pre-setting when you buy them and need to be adjusted individually. I did adjust the side to side and up down as well. On mine, the side to side adjustment screw slightly tilts up and down as well. That's what made the overall adjustment a little complicated. It took me about 45 minutes to an hour get it just right. Adjusting them in the parking lot is what made it possible for me. You can watch your casting positions in front of your car as you calibrate each screw. It gives you a realtime preview of how your lights will be cast on the road. You just have to keep on messing with it man... You might try aftermarket bulbs. The ones that came with mine blew within a couple months and the replacements made a notable difference. Good luck....[sm=smiley20.gif]
EDIT: You asked if I adjusted the side to side to point to the center or out. Even though projectors shine more directly, they should diffuse to some degree. You'll want each side to overlap slightly and shine together in front of you rather than out. Once they overlap, you eliminate the "W". The fact that you are seeing a "W" lets you know the light is diffusing. [sm=smiley20.gif]

Most projectors will have a cut off of some form and will have very little uplight (above the cut off). If you want to have your light diffuse and keep the projector your only option would be to bend the shield (in or out) till it creats a blurred cut off which will help diffuse the light but in the end you are still going to have a cut off line.
thanks for the reply, I'll let you guys know how things turn out....the bad thing is that I don't have any space to really adjust the screws without taking the light out..Honda Civic EK...but I'll let you guys know..Thanks!
