What are the steps you take when painting something. i mean like from beginning to end. im thinkin of painting some things on my car but i want to do it the right way.

I pull it off the car, clean it up very well, try not to get oil from my fingers where I'm gonna paint, do some light sanding so the paint will stick, primer if I need to, spray 2-3 coats of base, buff/wetsand if needed, 1-2 coats of clear, buff/wetsand if needed. Let dry between coats, make sure the paint dries and sets well before it goes CAREFULLY back on the car.
