Default Outer door handles?????

Hi i have a 96 DX HB. Can someone let me know how to remove outer door handles. I removed the door panels, undid the cyl rod clip, the two bolts holding the handle but cant pull out the handle. Its like the cyl is holding the handle in. Pics would be great or a sticky to a writeup. As allways all and any help is greatly appreciated. :Henry

how hard did you pull?
i remember on my del sol when i took my handles off for the first time they took quite a tug to pop them loose. also, i believe one side of the handle has a lip on it that wedges it onto the door, and you have to pull out the opposite end first.

did you undo the rod going to the door lock plunger?

I didnt pull too hard but hard enough to think something would break. i undid the door lock rod but not the one going to the handle. i could get the front part to pull out but not the back. on the inside i see a piece of sheetmetal by where the doorlock is and thats where im having the problem.
