Default paint question!!

okay im wanting to paint my car but im at the lowest budget.
i was wondering if i was to shoot a black primer then clear coat it with a mixture of colored pearl will it look so bad??
or should i just stick to the three stage paint job primer-paint-clear coat?

Stick with the paint job. If you can prep it yourself, work on that, because thats the part thats going to cost you, painting it is easy...

see the real situation is its been painted but by an amature an he used one brand of clear coat then used another brand an it had a reaction an even with the water sand it still shows pretty bad...i cant think of any other way of redoing it other than resanding an reprimering....any other options anybody knows of?

Thats rough, its got you in a tight spot. When it comes to removal, the pro's have the tools to speed things up. You will be sanding for a while. If you decide to do it your self take some pictures, so we can all see the progress. Other wise i would say save up and pay for it to be prep'd.

I think u should be able to sand out the inperfections without going all the way down to the metal. Then you could paint and clear without having to re-primer the entire car. When body shops paint cars they don't shoot them with primer unless it is in areas they had to go down to the metal to fix dents or scratches.

If its just the clear thats bad, you can easily just sand down to the base coat. You might even be able to just buff the hell out of it to get down to the base. I know my clear was coming off my Eclipse and leaving big white patches...buffed it down to the base black and re-cleared it my self, worked pretty well.

a power sander will never be perfectly smooth. for that smooth paint finish it involves alot of block/hand sanding!
