Quick Body Kit Painting Question
ya, the sticker on your drivers side door jamb, theres a paint code # on there..it should say paint or somthing next to it, you will no...and also get your vin#, they might need that to get the exact shade of paint
So i should get the Paint #, get a few cans of high quality automotive paint, sand down my body kit, prime/paint/clear coat, re-sand with 2000 grit, and i should be good to go?
get the primer and clear coat from the automotive store too, its different from the stuff you buy anywere else, and ask for high built primer(not sure if this one comes in a can,but you can ask, if not, reguler primer is good), this will take away any imperfections in the kit and before you start to prime, do a ruff scuff to the kit, not alot..just a LITTLE scuff, not so much that you can see it, but you can feel it with your hand, this will make the primer stick better (its up to you if you want to do this, i only did it to some of my parts, not a big deal) and 1 last thing, make sure you wash your kit with soap and water, use house hold dish detergint, this will get rid of the dirt, grease and oils on the kit
good luck, post some pics
good luck, post some pics
The body kit i'm looking at says "Comes already primed and ready to paint." Should i do a few coats of primer anyway or should i trust what they say?
