In books like this, this and this, are there things that I most likely won't learn from the Web? I'm scared that I'll buy them and find them useless or containing repetitive information.
What do you guys think? Are books a good source for automotive information? What books taught you a lot?

most books are a good source...i got a lot of info from haynes, chilton, but namely my dad....
also, the second book you listed, the honda/acura performance guide...i have that book, and it has a ton of wonderfull info in it...i highly recomend it...

I have Modern Automotive Technology by James E Duffy, the book costs about $70 or so. Its about 1500 pages long and covers prolly every automotive topic you could think of. It is a reference book, so the reading isn't that fun. As far as performance goes, it don't really go into that much detail b/c its really a book to teach you automotive basics and how to work on cars. Lots of good pictures, diagrams, and that sort of stuff. I haven't read any performance books b/c i don't feel like shelling out the money to buy it.

that third one you listed is generally accpeted as the best beginners guide to turboing a car.

this one is very good too.

Thanks for the replies. I bought all three of them!
Is Chilton better than Haynes? My friend has one for his Accord and the thing I don't like is that it covers like 10 years! lol, no wonder it's so much thicker than Haynes!

the first book you listed is what we use in collage, it explains anything you need to know and then just get a chilton on your car and you will be set
