Finding the balance
So i was talking to my girlfriend who just moved to thailand, and suddenly she got real quiet, and just like stopped talking... asked her what was wrong... a friend from home (back in canada) told her that 2 of the friends from their group died in a car accident tonight... i felt really sorry. i didnt know what to say... then i asked how... they were at a bar, got drunk, hopped in a car with a drunk driver, ran a red light and got hit by a bus... added another set of feelings... obviously i didnt want to be insensitive so i just did my best to comfort her... but drunk drivers really strike a bad chord with me... its hard to find a balance of what to say and what not to say... its hard to find any words to say really when a girl you love is shocked like that... i did my best just to let her know i'm here (even if it is around the globe)... how would you approach that?

RE: Finding the balance
You did the right thing. Be there for your girl even if only in spirit. You can always voice your opinions about drunk drivers or whatever after the emotions have settled down. If she knows you well enough , she prolly already knows your feelings about ******** who think they are invinceable and above the law. Bring it up later. You did good
