It seems to me that the server has been running slower lately?? Patrick, if you don't mind, what kind of server is this site running off of? Also do you happen to know the HDD (hard disk drive) configurations of the server, i.e. how much space, is it in a RAID configuration, etc? I've been noticing lately that it is taking much longer to go between the sections in the forum and at times I get "hung up".

I just assume that it's because HCF is growing so fast and the server cant keep up.

btw- what would you do with any of the info that you asked for?

 

Make suggestions for an inexpensive upgrade. Especially if the HDD are in RAID, there are some forms of RAID that have tons of overhead and slow down access times. As far as the servers themselves go, many times instead of buying premade ones, spending a few extra dollars goes a long way in performance.

And I'm just curious.

 

I agree with you guys, i dont noticed it on the computers at school but when im at home it seems like its alot slower then it used to be...mabey this should of been posted in HCF help and suggestions..still love this site!

 

Noticed that too...although I think its because of the increased amount of traffic that we're getting

 

Its also all the guest sitting in at an average of 700. It def has slowed down and it happens to me about once or twice a day when I get dropped from the site.

 

i will look into it..i dont do any of the server stuff. we have been working on upgrading to new servers...we are trying to keep up with the growth of the forum, i apologize for the issue.

 

Not really an issue. Just was wondering how its set up and if I could make a suggestion for improved access times.
