RE: Roll Cage
^ agreed, the extra weight not my biggest concern. Saftey issues first. And I don't have the materials to build the thing myself, but when I do contract someone to build this I will oversee the work; if nothing else than to learn a lil.

im afraid that i dont follow...im not trying to flame AT ALL, but arent you both basically stock? my car is in the mid 400hp range, and only sees track time, and i dont have a cage.
and in the stratus, while i dont have race seats yet (i like leather) im all harnessed up!

Chimera, you and Forty might as well put some structural bars in your trunk and engine bay as well.......lol
Pretty soon my stock LX will be as fast as yours because of all the added weight.

anyway.. Patrick Ive read a couple of articles saying how unsafe harnesses like those can be without a harness bar. The basic idea behind their theory is that if you were to roll over, those harnesses will not allow much (if any) side to side movement. So, if they're holding you straight up in your seat, and you roll the car, the roof is going to cave in directly on your head, and will more than likely compress your spine. This is not a chance I'm willing to take. So I'll be investing in something along these lines, just for peace of mind...

As for basically being stock, yes right now pretty much, by the time I get around to having this cage built and put in, engine internals, stage 2 cam, Y8 & return fuel conversion, 440cc injectors, 66mm TB, PnP w/ valve job, EMS, 50 shot dry, and possibly a wet kit. but then again, I won't be doing much racing until then either.
But like 40 said its more for safety purposes.

oh, i wont argue that a cage is safer than any stock vehicle...but i cant afford for my car to be any slower!

But, for arguement's sake, a typical "Street-Sport" roll bar only weighs like 50 lbs. Not really that big of a deal I don't think, considering the added benefits of having it in there..

RE: Roll Cage
i had a 200 pound system in the back of my car that i just took out and selling them to somebody and man did that make a difference, i dont think 50 pounds will be as noticable exspacualy with ...BOOST
