Well if I had enough money to even get a PS3 I'd certain purchase a good TV to go along with it. Or hook it up to my nice PC monitor.
It might not be to the point yet but high definition TV's and players are gonna be the standard soon enough. That doesn't exactly mean you have to jump on the bandwagon just yet, but plenty of people do care about Blu Ray. I've played the PS3 on a nice HDTV in full HD output as well as watched some Blu Ray movies and they look extra sexy like that. Tekken 5: DR in full HD mmm...

Sony just released info the thier PlayTV service too (which is currently only going to be available in europe for the time being, but I'm sure it'll come here eventually. It's a box that turns your PS3 into an HDTV tuner, lets you record HD programs to your PS3 hard drive and even encodes and ports them to your PSP if you have one. You can also use your PSP to connect to it wirelessly while your away from home and program what shows to record and even watch them on your PSP.
I don't think any other company has anything near what Sony has up it's sleeves for it's gaming products. Microsoft is trying, but is constantly playing catch-up and Nintendo just has a built in audience.
