Default A\C belt replacement?

Hi, I've got a 95 Civic. I need to replace the A\C belt, but the bracket that holds the idler pully appears to be intregal with the compressor mounting. This bracket extends to the car's frame. I therefore can't remove the remove the belt do to the fact that this bar is in the middle of the belt. Do I need to remove the entire compressor just to replace the belt? Thanks for the help in advance. Nick

You shouldn't have to. There should be either a manually-adjusting slide bolt, or a two step tensioner linked to one of the compressor's mounting bolts. The combination of loosening this and the other mounting bolt will allow the compressor to tilt toward the engine, allowing you to remove the belt.

no, what they mean is the mount where it attaches to the car, not the tensioner. (i think) so loosen the tensioner, the nget in behind the drivers side wheel and remove the mount, (2 14mm bolts that you look straight up to see.) then the big one on the end of the bar going toward the mount from the compressor, (i think its 19mm, but it might be 17mm.) then the belt will slide out. but to get it off, you can just cut it, but you still have to take it off to get the new one on, so, it wont save a lot of work to cut it, but its an option.
