0w-30 vs 5w-20 oil for 08 Civic?
Manual (and fill cap) recommends 5w/30 oil. However, 0w-30 would be thinner, producing better mileage.
What problems could come about switching to the thinner 0w-30 (Mobil-1) vs 5w-20 (Mobil-1)?
Could the thinner oil void the warranty?
Thanks

Don't, just cause it's thinner doesn't mean it's better in fact it would probably not lubricate as well thus decreasing the life of your motor severly. just stick with the 5w-30
Yeah, I figured that. Oh well, kinda too late now lol.. I'll rememeber to use 5w-20 next time instead of 5w-30. I don't think it'll hurt much, anyways.

The easiest way to describe how an oil will do for you is this... The first number is what it's start up cold characteristics will be. And the second number will be it's hot running temperature viscosity.
0w-30 vs 5w-30.. not much of a difference. The 0w gets pumping through a cold engine a little quicker. Running after warmed up is pretty much identical in both.
5w-20 vs 5w-30.. a LOT of difference. Start up about the same, but 30 weight is much heavier than 20 running warmed up.
0w-30 vs 5w-20.. No comparison. Stick with the recommended oil.
