i have a 1996 honda civic and there is a high pitch noise coming from the front wheels. usually gets louder at highway speeds and with weight in the car. can anyone help me.

 

those rotors will warp - have had that; wheel bearing, or cv joint.
have to jack up the front to get the wheels off the ground and start it and run the tires.
maybe able to detect where the noise is coming from.
just be careful that you have it secure when jacked up.
could just loosen the lug nuts before jacking in case you want to take the tire off.

high pitch - sounds more to me like one of the belts is rubbing on the timing cover.
have had that on my 1988

 

but if a belt is rubbing wouldnt that noise be there all the tyme.

 

true; so when you are not moving, then there is no noise ??

 

correct. when at idle there isnt no noise jus at highway speeds. its like a high pitch humming tone.
