The outside handle on my rear driver side door just stopped working over the weekend. Since the car is over 10 years old (150K) I am assuming it is just wear and tear. The door did open from the inside until the child lock got turned on (don't ask) and now I can't open it from the inside or out.

Any ideas on how to get the panel on the inside of the door off with the door closed? Also if there's a way to slide something in the door from the inside to undo the child lock that may help. I also see some bolts when I open the driver side door that holds the door hinges to the car, but even if I undo them the door will still be latched to the car.

well youll probably need to pull the lower cusion seat off the back to be able to get the door panel off. its going to be tight but force it enough and you can pull it off and feel around inside and start pulling/pushing/sliding the rods until it opens

most likely either the rod clip broke or it just fell off.
